Deciphering the trace file for the glider

The files are named according to a convention. Interpret the file name as follows to identify a trace file for a particular glider.

According to the daily results page the winner of day 1 in the Open Class was 'Tribe Allan', he flew the glider with a competition number '12'.

His trace file is called: '98212s.igc'

The files for day 1 are all prefixed with the numbers '982' some have suffix characters such as 's'. Different days have different prefix numbers.

Unzip software

If you are unable to uncompress the files you can download free software from this website: http://www.rarlab.com/

From the 'Rar Lab' website select the 'English (32bit)' download link under the heading: 'WinRAR and RAR 3.80 release'

This will install a trial version of Winrar. The trial lasts 30 days, after which you can continue to use it, only every time you do so you will be prompted to buy the software.
